Notable for its off white appearance, Absorbable Haemostatic Gelatin Sponge is applied on wound affected area as part of hemostatic process. This sponge is highly porous by nature and it does not dilute in water. It can absorb blood and other body fluids more than its own weight.
Absorbable Haemostatic Gelatin Sponge needs to be cut in required shape and it should be used either by soaking in isotonic sodium chloride solution or in its dry form. Light pressure needs to be applied during its application to achieve haemostatic result immediately.
This sponge needs to be stored under 25 degree C temperature. To avoid contamination, it needs to be used immediately after opening of its packet. Once used, it cannot be used for the second time as its reuse can cause emergency of blood borne pathogens.
